How can I remove the toolbar on my site?
The toolbar is intended to be a small, discreet method of continuing to allow us to provide FREE hosting. The toolbar cannot be removed. The toolbar placement is covered in Section 2.2 of the Terms and Conditions which can be found at http://www.web1000.com/terms.html

Do you offer a paid service without the toolbar?
Yes, if you are interested in a paid hosting with an online e-commerce store, you might wish to visit our affiliate The Chamber of E-Commerce at http://www.chamberecommerce.com and if you would like to buy traffic for your web1000 pages, then you can also visit http://www.web1000traffic.com.

I've just registered. How do I create my site?
Now you need to build your site on your own computer by using an HTML (Website) editor program such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Word. These allow for either point and click website building or code base design. You can also just build the file in HTML format with any standard text editor and save it in the file.html format.
After you get your site built, you will need to upload it to our server by use of an FTP client such as one of those that is listed on our Tutorials page at http://www.web1000.com or by going to ftp://ftpweb1000.com and logging in with your username and password.
If you choose to use the ftp://ftp.web1000.com then you will find that uploading is as easy as drag and drop as it opens up a “folder-like” window which you can then simply drag your site files into.

Can I have a "members only" or "password protected" section of my website that can only be accessed by people who have the password?
No, not at this time. You can probably use some scripting language, but remember we do not give any scripting support.

My site's frames do not display properly on your server?
The toolbar disables the frames tag. This is a known issue with us and we are working diligently to resolve the issue. I would suggest making a no-frames version of your page until we are able to resolve this issue.

I forgot my password.
We have a new Password Retrieval System! You can locate it at http://web1000.com/senduserpw.asp. Please be aware that the information will be sent to the original e-mail address used for registration. This system was implemented on September 16, 2005.

I forgot my password and I have recently changed my email. How can I get my password sent to me?
In the event of a lost password and changed e-mail account, our members must provide the following information for us to change the e-mail address and have the password sent to the new e-mail address. This is for the security of our members. If you still have the availability of access to the old e-mail address by re-registering it, of course this would be the best possible way to complete this.
Please provide the following information and we will address your request:
Full Username (Must be exact):
First Name (Must be exact):
Last Name (Must be exact):
Full Address (At Registration):
Phone Number (At Registration):
Date Registration was Completed:

I get re-directed when I try to visit my site. Why is that?
It has been brought to our attention that there is a bug in our system that re-directs a user if their language is not set to English in their browser. We are attempting to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
For a short term correction please set your browser's language to english.

Can I do server side scripting like ASP?
We have disabled all server side scripting including ASP, PHP, CGI (PERL), secure areas, and Databases while we assess the risks to our systems. We may at some later point in time enable some or all types of scripting. Keep your eyes on the FAQ page at http://www.web1000.com/faq.html for updates.

My website's homepage does not load. What's wrong?
There is no index.htm, index.html, default.htm, default.html file in the top level directory of your site. One of these files is required to be in the site as a beginning location for the site. Only one is necessary.

Can I change or correct a domain name once it has been registered?
Once a Domain Name or Subdomain Name have been selected, the name cannot be changed. You will need to cancel the existing subdomain and re-register for the subdomain you want.
To cancel the name, go to the support area at http://web1000.com/support.html
You can then go to www.web1000.com and register a Subdomain name choice.

Do you support Foreign Domain names?
Web1000 is capable of supporting any domain names that currently exist under any system, including .tv, .co.uk, .info, and any others.

Do you support Top Level Domain (TLD)?
Yes, we can host your TLD (Top Level Domain)! Here are the steps you need to take for us to be able to do it:
1. Point your TLD to our DNS (Domain Name Servers):
Our DNS information is as follows:
Primary DNS: NS1.WEB1000.COM 72.21.6.6
Secondary DNS: NS2.WEB1000.COM 72.21.6.7
2. Now you need to create an account on Web1000 in the following format:
"domain".web1000.com where "domain" is your www."domain".com
3. The last step is to e-mail us the full TLD (www."domain".com) as well as your Web1000 domain ("domain".web1000.com).
After we receive this information we will manually connect the two in our system. Please be aware that once we connect the two in our system, that it may take up to 24-48 hours for all of the systems necessary to "propagate" or get into alignment, so don't be worried if you don't see your site immediately afterwards.
4. Your final step is to build and upload your site so that when your domain goes live, there will be pages for you and your viewers to use.

Do you support Front Page extensions, publishing, operating systems, databases?
We do not support FrontPage Extensions or publishing at this time. Publishing has some security flaws and so it hasn't been ramped up to protect our customers' security. Company directors are reviewing this issue so it may change in the future.
There is no external support available for databases.

Why am I gettng a "Request Timed Out" error?
Your browser will stop attempting to connect to a server after a set amount of time. You will get this error if you exceed that time limit when trying to connect to a server. Possible reasons for this are:
-
Internet Traffic Problem. Too many people are trying to connect to this location at one time. Try accessing the site at other times during day to see if this makes a difference.
-
You may be having problems with your connection. Contact your ISP.

Why am I getting a "Server Not Found" error?
You get these messages when your computer cannot find the server you are trying to connect to. There are several possible reasons for this error message:
-
Your system may be behind a security firewall, prohibiting you from accessing the outside world. Contact your System Administrator for authorization
-
The URL was entered incorrectly. Make sure you have correctly entered the URL location. Every character, including the case, is meaningful.
-
Web site is not registered with InterNIC.
-
The server has changed locations.
-
The server to which you are trying to link is down or experiencing networking problems.
-
The server to which you are trying to link does not exist.

Why am I getting a "Java Script" error?
I'm afraid that we do not provide code-level debugging support - your site's content and code functionality are your responsibility. JavaScript executes client-side (nothing executes on the server) and is totally server-independent. The only thing that could be interfering with your script is the advertising code we insert, which is almost never in conflict with customer JavaScript.

Why am I getting a "530 not logged in" error?
This is an error that used to take place because the folder for your site was not properly created. Our ftp servers now create the folder if it doesn't already exist, so you should try logging out and back in. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need to disable passive mode connections.

What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a system used for transferring files between computers on the Internet. It is commonly used for downloading software from the Internet. This is the process you will be using to upload your web pages to our server.
Please use Passive FTP

Do you support SSL?
We do not support SSL at this time.

Do you support ASP or SSI?
ASP is not currently supported on subscriber sites. At this time we do not support SSI. However, to link to CGI's that are not on our servers you may be able to use image tags.
For example to link to cgi.pl at www.foo.com you would put in: <img src=http://www.foo.com/cgi.pl>
